Trekking lush mountains in Koh Chang.
The island is known for its several waterfalls, such as Klong Phu and Klong Nongsi, and its rainforests. One tip for visitors is take a private trek rather than join a group trek, to see and learn more at their preferred pace.
Free the bears at Bear Rescue Centre in Luang Prabang.
About 30 kilometres from downtown Luang Prabang can be found the popular Kuang Si waterfall. The refreshing mists and the alluring emerald-green water will lure you in for a refreshing swim. After you have dried off, why not stop by and support the Bear Rescue Project, a private organisation that works hard to protect the diminishing bear population of Southeast Asia.
Be elephant’s buddy in Lampang.
Lampang is well known for its Thai Elephant Conservation Centre where visitors will have plenty of chances to interact with the sweet giants, as well as watch them perform and paint. Those who are keen on Asian elephants but prefer to avoid the elephant shows can head for Lampang Elephant Hospital. Thousands of sick and injured elephants have been treated here with both Western medicine and traditional herbal remedies, and some have become permanent residents. Visitors are welcome to wander around and observe the giants from a distance, and may even be permitted to get close for a hug by an elephant trunk under supervision.
